There’s a meaningful difference between having an aesthetic treatment administered at a med spa and having it performed by a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

An OMS spends years studying facial anatomy — the planes, structures, nerves, vessels, and tissue relationships that determine both safety and outcome quality in facial procedures.

AZ Max surgeons bring that same depth of anatomical knowledge to our aesthetic and facial rejuvenation services. Whether you’re exploring non-surgical skin treatments or considering a surgical procedure like eye lift surgery, you’re working with providers who understand the face at a level that goes well beyond cosmetic application.

Our aesthetic services are offered alongside our full surgical menu — which means if you’re already a patient for oral surgery, you have access to these treatments at the same practice you already trust. And if aesthetics is what brings you through the door, you’re welcome here too.

Regenerative Skin & Hair Treatments

PRF Skin Rejuvenation

PRF skin rejuvenation uses your body’s own concentrated growth factors to improve the tone, texture, and elasticity of aging or sun-damaged skin. The treatment stimulates collagen production and tissue regeneration at the cellular level — addressing the underlying cause of skin aging rather than masking it.

Unlike PRP (platelet-rich plasma), which has been in use for decades, PRF uses a more advanced preparation that retains fibrin scaffolding and white blood cells, producing a richer concentration of growth factors and a slower, more sustained release. Patients typically notice continued improvement over several weeks following treatment.

PRF Hair Restoration

Hair loss — whether caused by genetics, hormonal shifts, stress, or aging — affects millions of people and can significantly impact confidence. PRF hair restoration is a non-surgical treatment that uses concentrated growth factors injected into the scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles, improve follicle health, and encourage regrowth.

The treatment is most effective for patients in the early to middle stages of hair thinning. Because it relies on your own biology, there are no foreign substances, no downtime, and no risk of the allergic reactions sometimes associated with synthetic treatments.

Combination & Advanced Rejuvenation Treatments

Bio-LIFT Facial Rejuvenation

Bio-LIFT is an advanced facial rejuvenation protocol that combines two powerful modalities in a single treatment: Dermapen microneedling and PRF application. The microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin surface, and PRF is applied both topically — penetrating through those channels for deeper absorption — and via targeted injections beneath the skin.

The result is a comprehensive approach that addresses surface texture and tone through microneedling while simultaneously delivering regenerative growth factors into the deeper dermal layers via PRF. Bio-LIFT produces no artificial substances, no synthetic fillers, and no foreign materials — the entire treatment works with your own biology.

Bio Filler Facelift (Extended PRF Filler)

Volume loss is one of the most significant drivers of facial aging. As we get older, the fat pads that give the midface its fullness begin to shrink and shift downward — hollowing the cheeks, deepening the nasolabial folds, and creating a deflated appearance that no amount of skincare can address.

Bio Filler uses extended PRF (E-PRF) — a form of PRF that remains in a liquid state longer than standard preparations — to restore lost volume in a natural, gradual way. Because it’s made entirely from your own blood, the results integrate with your tissue rather than sitting on top of it, and there is no risk of the lumpiness or migration sometimes seen with synthetic hyaluronic acid fillers.

Minimally Invasive Skin Treatments

Dermapen Microneedling

Dermapen microneedling uses a precision device to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface, triggering the body’s natural wound healing response. The result is an increase in collagen and elastin production — the structural proteins that give young skin its firmness and smoothness.

The treatment is clinically effective for fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scarring, uneven skin texture, and mild skin laxity. Because it works by stimulating your skin’s own regenerative processes, results are natural-looking and build progressively over several weeks. Most patients complete a series of 3–6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart.

Botox

Botox (botulinum toxin type A) is one of the most well-studied injectables in medicine, with a safety record spanning decades of clinical use. At AZ Max, Botox is used for both cosmetic and therapeutic applications.

Cosmetically, Botox relaxes the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles — the lines that form around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the brows (frown lines), and across the forehead. Results typically last 3–4 months and can be maintained with repeat treatments.

Therapeutically, Botox is an effective treatment for TMJ-related jaw pain, bruxism (teeth grinding), chronic tension headaches, and hyperactive facial muscles. Because AZ Max surgeons specialize in the jaw and facial structures, their expertise in therapeutic Botox is backed by a depth of anatomical knowledge that general injectors don’t typically possess.

Surgical Aesthetic Procedures

Eye Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

The eyes are often the first area of the face to show visible signs of aging. Excess skin accumulates on the upper eyelids, creating a hooded or heavy appearance. Fat deposits shift and bulge beneath the lower lids, producing persistent under-eye bags regardless of how well-rested you are.

Blepharoplasty addresses these concerns surgically. Upper eyelid surgery removes redundant skin and, where necessary, a small amount of fat — restoring a more open, alert appearance. Lower eyelid surgery repositions or removes fat pads to eliminate puffiness and tighten loose skin beneath the eye.

Beyond aesthetics, upper blepharoplasty can have a functional benefit: when drooping skin encroaches on the visual field, its removal can genuinely improve peripheral vision. This sometimes makes the procedure eligible for medical insurance coverage.

Eye lift surgery at AZ Max is performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons whose surgical training specifically covers the periorbital region — the tissues surrounding the eye. This is a meaningful distinction from practices where blepharoplasty is offered by providers without a surgical background.

Why Have Aesthetic Treatments Done at an Oral Surgery Practice?

It’s a fair question. The short answer is anatomical expertise and surgical accountability.

Facial Anatomy Is Our Specialty

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons complete years of hospital-based surgical residency training focused specifically on the face, jaw, and surrounding structures. They understand the relationship between facial muscles, fat compartments, nerves, and vessels at a level that directly translates to safer injections, more precise surgical planning, and better aesthetic outcomes.

This is not a criticism of med spa providers or aestheticians — those settings are appropriate for many treatments. But when a procedure involves surgery or injections into facial structures, having a surgeon administer it adds a layer of safety and expertise that matters.

Therapeutic + Cosmetic Under One Roof

One of the unique advantages of receiving Botox or PRF treatments at AZ Max is the integration with our surgical services. A patient managing TMJ pain with therapeutic Botox can also address cosmetic concerns in the same appointment. A patient recovering from jaw surgery can discuss appropriate timing for a skin rejuvenation series. The continuity of care and the team’s shared understanding of your facial anatomy and history is something you simply can’t replicate at a standalone med spa.

Same Surgeons, Same Standards

Every AZ Max aesthetic procedure is performed by or directly supervised by a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. We don’t staff these services out to separate injectors or rotate in outside providers. The same surgeons who perform your dental implants or jaw surgery are the ones performing your Botox or blepharoplasty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an existing oral surgery patient to access aesthetic services?

No. Our aesthetic services are available to any patient, regardless of whether you have an oral surgery treatment history with us. Many of our aesthetic patients found us through a recommendation and have never had an oral surgical procedure.

Is PRF safe? What does the treatment involve?

PRF is considered very safe because it’s derived entirely from your own blood — there are no foreign substances, synthetic additives, or preservatives. The preparation involves a simple blood draw (similar to a standard lab test), followed by centrifugation to concentrate the platelets and growth factors. The resulting preparation is then applied topically, injected, or combined with microneedling depending on the specific treatment.

How is Botox for TMJ different from cosmetic Botox?

The injection technique and target muscles differ. Therapeutic Botox for TMJ-related pain, bruxism, or headaches targets the masseter (jaw clenching muscle) and related muscles with doses calibrated for relaxation of involuntary muscular activity. Cosmetic Botox targets smaller superficial muscles of facial expression with doses calibrated to reduce visible contraction without eliminating natural movement. AZ Max surgeons are trained and experienced in both applications.

What is recovery like after eye lift surgery?

Blepharoplasty recovery typically involves 7–10 days of bruising and swelling, after which most patients feel comfortable in public. Full healing and final results may take 4–6 weeks. You’ll be asked to avoid strenuous activity, direct sun exposure, and contact lens use for a period following surgery. Your surgeon will provide specific post-operative instructions tailored to your procedure.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

Most patients see meaningful improvement after a series of 3–6 sessions, spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the specific concern being treated, your skin type, and how your skin responds to initial treatments. Your provider will assess your results and make recommendations after your first session.

Can I combine aesthetic and oral surgery procedures?

In some cases, yes — particularly for patients who are already planning a surgical procedure under sedation and wish to discuss whether combining treatments is appropriate. This is something to discuss during your consultation. Our surgeons can advise on whether combination timing makes sense given your overall treatment plan and health history.

Where are aesthetic procedures performed?

Aesthetic services are currently offered at our Mesa and Tempe locations. Non-surgical treatments (PRF, microneedling, Botox, Bio-LIFT, Bio Filler) are performed in-office with no hospitalization required. Eye lift surgery is a surgical procedure performed in our equipped surgical suites. Call (480) 830-5866 to confirm availability at the location most convenient for you.
